My friend and travel companion Laurabeth dreamed to use her fluency in Spanish where it all started, in Spain. As a lover of all things Spanish and a light background in the language myself, I was happy to fulfill that dream for her that definitely overlapped with mine.
Madrid was the sleeper hit of the trip for me, always bustling with locals, full to the brim of culture, delicious cuisine for days, and stunning views. Tapas are the a genius creation, giving my adventurous palette a chance to try even more food! Though let it be known, parmesan ice cream is better in concept than reality.
Barcelona is like a postcard come to life, with a famous and gorgeous landmark at every turn. The Sagrada Famalia is my favorite building on earth, and I am already planning my trip back in a decade when the finally finish construction after over a century. Getting to see those sights that I fell in love with back in the day when S Club 7 went to Spain was a joy.
Also important note, authentic churros do not have cinnamon or sugar on them. They are plain hot and fried dough to be dipped in rich melted chocolate. So it wasn't much of a loss.
